RE: [split] Miles Per Gallon

to calculate MPG. fully fill up your car, reset your tripometer to 00000 drive it till E or nearly there, fill up again. Divide your milage by your gallons to fill up.

so for instance if at E your trip says 300 Miles, and it takes 10.00 gallons to fill your tank again, 300/10.00=30mpg

RE: [split] Miles Per Gallon

yea, I had 241/9.8 and it came out 24.9...so thats not good for highway!!! Even though I caught myself doing 90ish every once in a while, but it only happened l ike 3 times and I wasnt driving that fast for very long...then I would drop back down to 75. So maybe I should take it into the dealership and have them check her.

Tire pressure is perfect. I'm going to take it to the dealer and have them figure it out. I'll keep you all updated!

RE: [split] Miles Per Gallon

Chris, I think you've forgotten that your tires are larger than stock diameter. So with every rotation of the tire it takes a little longer than everyone else's. I couldn't tell you what the difference is, but I would suggest following someone for 10 miles. Once they get to 10 miles, figure out how far you have traveled with your trip od. You both will have traveled the same distance, but your computer may show 9 miles instead of 10.

is this aimed at me??
that could be a reason too, never really thought about that
i thought the larger tires and rims could have an effect on the spedo being off some. maybe its both??

My bad, aimed for Scionchick.

Yes, her speedo AND trip computer are off because of it.
If you think of a larger scale. A stock tire spins faster than a monster trucks wheel going the same speed.

don't forget that if your gonna get the 15x8 sportmax you might as well kiss your gas mileage bye bye...wider wheels+wider tires= increased drag....bah wide wheels suck..haha..but they just look soooooooo goooood..haha.

RE: [split] Miles Per Gallon

thank you David! I will do this with my friend this weekend and i'll let you know what it says. I guess it could be my rims. However, i've had them since August and this gas problem just started happening in December. But we'l have to see.
