RE: A cheap performance mod
im curious to know why Scion would even waste thier time fabbing and installing this snorkel if its totally worthless, or even, worse than without it... i know car manufacturers do this from time to time, but does anyone know why they De-rate an already power lacking motor?

Well, the xB is not what you call a quite riding car. With the snorkel on the engine is quieter.
I filled up again. Got 32mpg. I don't see an increase of mpg as of yet.

thats what I thought too. conservative drivers(old) doesn't like the extra swiish and sucking noise the intake produce, but for kids like us we love it :D

RE: A cheap performance mod
Well I have all the stock stuff on, and I drive 80 any time im on the freeway and i do stop and go,with that said, im getting 25 mpg. Now on a road trip from Houston to Dallas, with cruise set at between 70 and 80 closer to 80 we got 31 in our automatic. At 80 the tach is at 3000 rpm with a auto, and 4000rpm with a stick.

Sad, if only the manual had a longer 5th gear we would blow away the autos mpg.

a: colder air coming in
b: reduced debris
with this mod your filter WILL get dirtier faster. I recommend a k&n and maybe even fabbing a small-mesh screen for the inlet tube.
(the mod does work tho!)
