Drove over to Hamilton, MT on the second and Vanilla got smacked in the face with a tire tread flying at her about a foot off the ground while we were cruising at 80...
Knocked her teeth out, it did. Sad.
Tore up the ground-effect fairing, knocked all three pieces of the lower grill out, bent up some of the metal behind everything, and scuffed the Hell out of the bumper cover on the passenger side.
That was just before she was attacked by a couple monster tumbleweeds that were chasing each other across the freeway - scarred the paint on both driver-side doors.
Rough trip.
Other than that, the drive was uneventful...
She's held together with duct tape right now to keep the whistles and rattles down.
I'll be making the drive back to south of Seattle on the 7th - hopefully another road 'gator won't get hold of 'Nilla...
Pics later.
Wow, that sucks holmes. Hopefully your insurance doesn't try to pull a fast one on you.
Nothing worse than seeing a white 'box all torn up.
Wow that sucks. Just one million dollar man her, and rebuild faster and stronger
Thats a shame to see Tomas. Have a safe trip back home.
Hi Tomas....it's Tango!! Sorry to hear about 'Nilla......most important thing is that she can be fixed and you are okay!!!

sorry to see you box that way
but it would look like new again!!
pd maybe a new lip kit

Zoinks! im with David i hope your insurance doesnt try to get clever with you.
My insurance is, well, insurance, so I wouldn't put anything beyond them, but they've always played pretty straight with me.
The ones I will trust on this, though, is my chpice of body shops: The one I go to refuses to use reclaimed, rebuilt, non-OEM parts (other than glass) unless specifically OK'd by the customer. They sometimes cost a bit more to get the job done there, and insurance companies may get a little twitchy about their prices instead of the insurance company recommended shops, but I can trust them to try to get the car back to original specs. I'm familiar with their work, and know they do a good job (One of the top three reps in the area.)
Vanilla will be in good hands.
GRRRRRRRRRRRRR, ive always been afread of something just like that happening.
glad your ok and that the box is fixable
sorry tomas but im sure vanilla will be bak better than ever
The insurance company will pay anyone that you request to fix the car. But, they will try everything in the power for you to goto a network shop. They save tons of money that way. I've had 2 cars fixed by the only shop I trust. The insurance companies refused that I go there. Just put your foot down and they will get over it.
My insurance company (Hartford) has never hassled me on who I get to do repairs, or on the shop's insistence on OEM parts. They just bite the bullet and pay for what the shop needs (except for OEM glass - and I agree with them there so long as I get my choice of aftermarket suppliers - Fuyao).
The insurance folks already called me while I was in Wallace, Idaho to set up a date/time to look at Vanilla.
Once they do then I have the shop handle it from there and fight with the insurance folks if needed. So far the shop's estimates and the insurance estimates have always been within a very few bucks, and the shop simply adjusts their price to match.
Right now I'm just tired - it was a long drive home
Glad your home safe Tomas.
