Just finished up a 4 hour install of my sub and amp. Since it was only 100 degrees outside, I'm not tired at all... Anyway, I'm not totally done with it yet. I put the sub in an enclosure under the passenger seat. The amp is in the back in the foam box next to the spare tire. I still need to modify that foam box so I can have all the wires completely hidden. I will also be installing a fan to help cool the amp as it got hot extremely fast.
Now that I know where to run everything, I'm sure it would take me a max of 1 1/2 hours to install the same setup again. Oh, and what a PIA the inline converter was to crimp into place. It came with the shortest wires, peckers.
I ran the wires the SMART way, so listen carefully everyone...
Power wires went down the left side of the car.
Sound wires went down the right side of the car.
They never came close to each other and that is how you prevent whine.
Overall, I'm very happy with my "boom" for the price of $67. I've got it setup so it's perfect at +3 bass, and when I don't want bass I can turn it down to -5. It can get pretty loud inside the car, and not loud outside. That is EXACTLY what I wanted. I just wanted to get the full spectrum and now I'm happy
Last but not least, I don't recommend using a drill to secure the sub to the box. It slips easily and creates a nice tear in the foam surround that is nicely covered up with duct tape
