ive been thinking about this for several years.

tail of the dragon is the most extreem road in the US, 318 curves in 11 miles.
http://www.tailofthedragon.com/maps_dragon_road.html
its not a race track, and ist not a road to be taken as a joke, it clames 100 lives a year (mosty bikers)
im not tring to scare you, driven normaly or a tad bit faster the roar is safe and fun. but if you get crazy and think you can push the limmets......... the dragon has been known to bit..... some times hard.

you can look up tons of vids of the dragon on youtube (mostly bikers)

anyway.
my dad lives in this area and ive been there several times.
alot of groups meet there annualy, mini coopers clubs, mustangs clubs, vetts, and tons of bike clubs.
the last time i was there a mini cooper rally raw there with over 300 cars in attendance.

its such a nice area with a huge collection of cabins call Fontana Village with very reasonable rates

so what do you all think.
it would be a weekend long set up with lots of activities including day and night cruses, so guess it would be more of a rally then a run.
id be down in a heart beet.

i can organize alot of this but i would need some help spreading the word and maybe get some sponsers involved.
This remind me the movie 2fast 2furious Tokio.. with all the curves... sounds interesting driving it.. who knows maybe one day Big Grin
My wife and I took that road on vacation just a month ago. we were following the mapquest directions and didn't even know we were on it until half way through. At that point I decided that once I finished a couple of more mods on the box I was totally going to go drive it.

There are even a couple of different companys that take pictures at some of the corners that you can go online and download or buy prints.

keep us updated and I will probably join in the drive. need a bit of notice to get off work for the drive from Indy.
this would be altest 6 month to a year away, alot of work to get everything lined up, like maybe april of next year.
but we need to get atleast 150 cars willing to show up or it wouldn't realy be worth it.
that sound great all you xbers do all the mods you can im ready!
your invited if you realy want to go.
but im worning you its not a road to get crazy on, one side is a rock face the other side is a drop off that you can't see the bottom, id hate to see your prety little Z go flying into the sunset never to be seen again.
Looks like it would be fun as hell in a fast go kart.
^^^or in a Honda CRX. Those things are like go karts.
I've driven through the Smokeys when it was pitch black and thick fog.
6 mile road took 3 hours.

That was the scariest road I've ever been on.
I would be there in a heart beat. I have talked to some of the Mini guys that go down from Pittsburgh and they tell some cool stories about how much fun it is.
thats what im talkin about man.
just imagine gettin 100 or more xBs together for a weekend.

i like i said, its going to take alot of planing and maybe some sponcers, but we can make this work and maybe make it a once a year thing.
ive been dreaming about this for about 3 years now, and im ready to make it real.
tell every xB owner you know!
I threw it out there for discusion on the SE PA thread as well as the SL Pittsburgh thread to see what kind of local interest there is.
ive got a local forum here also, but my town is dead as far as scion goes.
when i first became a member people were like "i don't get it" about my car, i just laghed and said "thanks"
I'm up for this, I had no idea that is as close to me as it is...maybe 3 hours. I would suggest however that you read this page ***FULLY***

I know I won't be going without a good radar detector.
HA, my box goes faster than a radar Smile
