one of my rims has a small leak and i have to put air in it every 3 days i plan on taking it back to the shop that fixed a few months back to see if they refix it hopefully they will and not charge me but just incase do u think jb weld would work
Which rims are these? Not too sure on JB, I'll ask my bro when I get a chance. He used to manage a Discount tire co. so he might know.
I guess it would depend on where the leak was. I've repaired so many things with JB Weld it's not even funny.
its in the middle of the rim
My bro said he wouldn't try jb unless you have the tire unmounted before hand, you knew 4 sure that is where the leak is coming from, and make sure you get all the air bubbles out of the rim leak/crack when fixing it. His first suggestion was to take it back to the person who fixed it originally or to another professional rim/tire place. But if all else fails, depending upon the cost and availability of the rim you could just buy another and always have a full size spare. (you shouldn't drive on a spare longer than 3 days anyway, so you'll be good on air leak)
If your're going the JB weld route, then I would suggest taking the tire off and doing the weld on the inside and outside of the rim. Try and press the weld in the crack as good as possible. I've seen many rims with JB on them and with the crack being in the middle, the weld should hold up fine.
i too would think it would be a fine fix for the short haul....

Agreed.
if the JB is your final choice i would take a grinder and make a small groove on top of and the langth of the crack, the JB would hold alot better.
i would think it would work just fine.
thats one of the things i like about my wheels, if i mess one up............ i can get a new one cheep, no big deal.
Carlos -- Is it a pinhole leak or a crack?
I was wondering where you were at Ray. I know you have some special wheel/tire secrets.
Well I have used jb weld on some pinhole leaks as a temporary fix until a replacement wheel could be ordered in but I'm kind of leary about a crack.
