we have been bouncing back and forth about a Tacoma or an FJ for a few months.
last night me and my brother were over at the local Totota dealer and what do you know they had some 08 FJs marked down real low.
so this morning i went over and got one, made the wifes day.
and (i can't help it) ive already started modin it
i got a real good deal on it.
its got
4 wheel drive
auto trans
back up sencer
roor rack
115v ac jack
powered sub wolfer
A - track
Diff lock for the rear
color matched inside stuff
floor mats
cruse controle
6 disc CD
full size side steps
whatever you all the nav stuff on top of the dash (cumpass & vehicle angle)
im sure its got some other things that i can't think of right now
id like to do a front skid plate, brush gard, and a ton of fog/ driving lights.
i realy don't want to get to crazy with it.
what this means for me is i can put the xB in the garage and only drive it on the weekends.
ive alread got 20k on it and id like to keep it low.
thats the only thing i don't like, it does have alot of blind spots with rear vision.
the MPG isn't to bad for what it is.
236 HP 4L v6
sticker said 21 MPG but ive talked to several other FYC owners that say they get 23 on regular gas.
oh yeah, get this, the fuel door said Premium only.
"all" the FJC owners ive talked to say don't worry about it just run regular unless your halling a laod up a hill.
its been fun so far.
i plan ( we got a ton of rain today from Ike, like 8" ) on runnin threw some flooded areas tomarow just for fun.
ill take some pic and vids.
Yeh, i would drive an Fj any day of the week!!,, the frame and engine all are shared between the 4runner, tacoma, and fj. my mom gets 24mpg in her 4runner, so you cant complain,
Cool vid... next you need to take it into some mud. You know, to "christen" it.
I used to own a 1996 Chevy Tahoe 4WD 2-door. It had no problem eating up puddles like the one in the video. The damn thing only got 13 mpg. This was back in the day when gas was below $2/gal. I remember freaking out when it cost $60 to fill. Nowadays, it would cost over $120 to fill. DOH!
When I was in the dealership waiting to sign the paperwork on my box, they had a yellow FJ on display. With us having a Jeep and going off road like we do I was real interested in these. I was all over that thing..even crawling under completely under it. Everyone in the dealership thought I was crazy.
I have to tell you that I was more than impressed on how that thing was designed and built. They put a lot of thought into them. They really are pretty sweet....Congrats dude!
im happy with it.
i told my dad about taking it in the water, and he was like "I don't know that thats shuck a good thing to do with a brand new car."
HAHAHAHAHA
i was like "why? its new, if something happens to it its under warrrenty"
oh..... as muck as i don't usualy take any of the extras stuff from the dealer.............
they talked me into the diamond fusion crap and the extended warrenty.
i did the diamond fusion because of the problems i had with the xB windshield and because this has alloy wheels that i don't plan on changing any time soon.
i did the extended warrenty because i don't realy plan on moding anything and because i went with 84 payments and just thaught it best to have it under warrenty as long as possible.
well thanks for the props guys.
i plan on splashing some more water when it goes (the tops of the yellow and black signs are 4' or more) down a little and maye some mud, so ill be posting some more pics and stuff.
oh yeah......... i signed up on fjcruiserforums.com........... jeez......theas guys don't tell jokes or have any fun at all, its stait serious off road talk, too serious for me. ill go over there if i need help with something but otherwise i know were i belong.
not in the slightest. i wasnt meaning to rag on his ride, i was just stating what i had heard. if hes happy with it, im happy for him. i like the FJs. i got peeved the other day driving the 2Gen to work and i was in the median trying to turn left and i couldnt see the oncoming traffic because toyota omitted the lil windows on the sides in the back hatch of the 2Gens.
i am a bit jealous that he can now go through water without freaking out or slowing down to a snails pace. i do love having my truck for that reason alone.
