this is my first DIY so please be nice to me. i did this months ago and i didn't have a camera at the time. so i took my door apart and took some pics.

if you break the little tab that holds the housing in you can do what i did.
i took a old piece of 1 1/2" pipe and cut it up and ended up with this.

i took the pipe and cut off a small piece then cut it in half so i had to half "moons" if you want to call it that. then drilled holes into one end so i could use the two screws that were on the housing. then i kept on trimming off a little bit at a time until i got the perfect size. it turned out to be about a 1/4 of the pipe.

make sure it hangs a little bit past the housing so it can grab onto the door. it will look like this.

when you go to put it back in put the PVC side in first.

when you get it in there it will slide a little bit so you can snap the other side in.it will grab onto the door like this.

Now you have a window control that you will never know it was broken. i forgot i did this because it is so solid.

for the other ones i don't know how to fix. all of my other ones are not broken but that is the best i can do with the driver door. i think the pass front do has the screws too but i know the back doors do not. so you are on your own there.
very creative mod your getting some rep for this
Actually that's an excellent recovery from something breaking, and a damned fine fix!

Impressive job! Smile
very clever. good job
^ I agree, that is extremely clever and a heck of a fix. Some would say that it is jerry-rigged, but it looks very snug and you can't see the repair. Thumbup
crap, thats perfect.
i say crap because i just went to the dealer and got a new one about 2 months ago because one of mine was broken.

i would rather have done this.

ill know better next time, thanks for the perfect write up.
I like it! I love fixes where all it takes is some stuff around the garage and some imagination.
Damn clever and actually if you spent the time to really clean the pipe pieces up and paint...no one would ever think that wasn't a repair kit.

Which wouldn't be a bad idea....
i agree with david. my first impression was "wow, thats jerry rigged" but after looking at it and thinking about it, i changed my oppinion to "wow. thats flippin slick". way to go man. you got rep from me for this too.
thanks for all the positive feedback. i was just trying to save some money. lol i hope people can use this to fix their own.
if ever i break mine, im looking up this thread. great fix!
I don't plan on breaking mine, but if I do... Smile

This is actually a great little hint, and I'm sure there are going to be folks who use your idea.
that is a great way to fix that. I have seen at a few shows where people painted the control and it was obvious that something was broken because it didn't go back together right. i will be sending them here for your DYI
