Does anyone have a custom FULL cat-back exhaust? If so did u change the catylic converter and if so what size and what brand r the best? If u havent but know a little about this subject please let me know. Im gettin ready for a full exhaust switch out, with headers, catalyic converter and full cat-back. Any feedback would be greatly appreciated. Thanx guys
ill preface this post with: i dont have the answer to your question though im sure there are a few guys on here who can help.
my question to you is this, why are you going full exhaust swap out? with header and axle-back i cant imagine that your power gain from swapping out the rest of the pipe and cat to be worth the cost and effort of the swap. just curious thats all.
by the way, welcome to the site, im sure youll find its a great place to hang out.
I just put on a tip to mine, but in my old Accord I got a Magnaflow cat. Sounded great. I honestly didn't feel a difference.
I've got a header, left the stock cat (no need to change it really). When I first had my exhaust system made, I had them run 2" pipe from the cat back, in place of the stock 1.75". That included cutting out the resonator that's right after the cat. I ended up taking it back and having the resonator put back in because it was LOUD. Not so much outside, but inside was deafening.
I noticed that I lost power on the bottom end by reducing the back pressure, but I think it was made up for on the top end as the engine seems to breathe easier above 5K RPM's. (Yes, I'm there alot)
^ Back pressure is key for our cars. We need the most low end torque as possible.
You know...I thought so at first, but I guess it depends on whether you have a 5 spd or an automatic. I've blasted plenty of Honda's off the line and through all the gears. I start loosing any real pick up above 90.
The only xb I've been beat by so far was turbo'd....and he kicked my ass!
So doin a full swap out is not good? But what about headers and a full cat back w/ stock converter? Im just tryin to get some power out of my car from take off. Im also goin to replace the Throtle body too. That helps right? Thanx guys
if it was me, i would to Header and Axle-back only... then get an upgraded intake.
another question, where are you going to get a new throttle body? i havent heard of anyone making an aftermarket TB for our motor.

If it's power you want then you'll need a turbo.
From what I've read about TB's you're not really getting anymore power out of it. I followed some threads a couple years ago where a guy was overboring TB's but he could never show any real stats on power improvment...everythning what was stated by people were just comparing "Butt dyno's".
Intake and exhaust will help the engine breathe better but it won't be adding any real HP. Although it will sound better. I've pulled the snorkle off the stock air box and only kept the stock cat/resonator. I don't know if mine is any faster or quicker than it was over stock but it sounds great.
But I guess all this is relative to...what is it exactly you're trying to accomplish? Just keep in mind that your engine is rated at 108bh. One of our guys put his xb on a dyno and IIRC it showed 70 HP at the wheels, so you might want to keep that in mind.
The TB is on andy auto sportc.om the same place im tryin to get my cat-back exhaust. So im getting a header and then a supercharger b/c of automatic(got a deal on it) What about crank pulleys? Any good or worth it?
sounds like a nice project you go goin so far.
me, personal if its power and speed your lookin for then you started with the wrong car.
as others have said, the best combo to do is a cat or axle back and a intake, short ram for me. this will give the best overall.
a supercharger (pro charger) will help, but you realy need to be sure about what your getting into. forced induction can have as meny down sides as up sides.
keep us posted as to how its working out.
oh, and we love pics so post some of your box and what your workin on.
also here is something thats both funny and interesting
