  Towing the XB???
Posted by: bora12 - Yesterday 01:08 PM - Replies (1)

So I am buying my brother's 2005 BCP when I return from deployment. Only problem is getting it from Florida to Virginia. I am driving my 2006 Tacoma home on leave and then will tow the XB back up to Virginia.

My questions:

If I remove the rear bumper cover will I be able to tow it using a tow dolly, or will it still be necessary to put it on a trailer?

I am hoping to use a dolly as it will save money and weight. The uhaul trailer weighs 2000 Lbs and the dolly weighs only 750 Lbs.

Thanks in advance.
Gary

Sad Wrecked the b.
Posted by: L33TFooMaster - 02-03-2010 01:52 AM - Replies (8)

The damage isn't huge, I drove away from it. But I've been feeling sick since and I'm hating myself. I left the parking lot from work and found a patch of ice, slid into the curb at low speed. The front passenger's side wheel is pushed back a few inches, still clears the wheel well and all components seem to be there and working. I have to steer to the right to go in a straight line and it handles like a 200mph shopping cart.

Tomorrow I get to call the insurance company and file a claim. Hopefully I can get everything fixed without too much trouble/expense. Hopefully the insurance company won't jack my rates. Crying

So to kick off the new year(a month late)... So far I've re-gutted the car. Took out the headliner and all of the pillar covers. Gonna do a new hl with some newer, strong, thicker, softer fabric.
Got some redesigning going on with the A pillars, maybe b's and c's too.

Headers just got here as did some CF appliques
Engine dressings arrived too, as did some fancy wirings.

Got a couple more things on their way but I want to keep some secrets!

Oh, I was looking into Thule products... found a Thule Aero Foot rack and Atlantis 1600 cargo box that I want to get but direct from their site it's like $600 and change. Was wondering if anyone had any leads on one for less?

Hope everyone's been well and keepin' their cars up this winter!

  This morning stall..
Posted by: EdwardJTurkowII - 01-26-2010 09:34 AM - Replies (13)

On my way to class this morning, at a red light, turned green, gave it gas, got up to about 3rd gear then a plume of white smoke poured out of the tail pipe and my car stalled. Pulled it into a parking lot just rolling in stall and let it sit for a couple, tried restarting it and more white smoke came out follow by a really low idle(like it wasn't getting gas) and stalled again. I'm in class now so I haven't called a tow yet and arrange to drop it off at a care center. Any ideas what it might be before I get it in? I'm thinking a gasket leak or coolant going somewhere it shouldn't. Maybe oil. Didn't notice anything leaking though when I checked... then again I wasn't too thorough as I was rushing to be picked up and taken to class...
