Stereo Upgrades
First thing I need to save up for is an after market stereo.Im def getting at Circuit City b/c its one of my partner stores through my business.I found this one and Im really liking it b/c the lighting has the same colors as my theme. So what do you guys think?
Another question.Do the Gen2s have the same stock stereo as the Gen1s?The guy Im getting the system from said he didn't have to upgrade his stereo for his system and he has a Gen2 so Im trying to figure out if mine needs to be upgraded.

RE: Stereo Upgrades
Well, it al depends on what you are going to do with it. If you just want to replace your OEM one, that Sony or the 2G OEM unit will work. The Sony unit (or the Premium OEM) will add RCAs to use with an amp or DSP Equipment. Other than that, it doesn't really matter with one you get (as long as it is a name brand), go for the one that works like you like and looks like you like.

RE: Stereo Upgrades
I have read threads else where(SL for example) that shows the 2nd gen radio is plug and play in the gen 1 xb. I am waiting to find a good used premium system to put in mine.
Someone make a good post? Offer good advice? Besure to leave them good reputation!

Moved to ICE (In car entertainment forum).
As for the stereo, do you have the radio controls?
If you do, then that may sway your decision.

RE: Stereo Upgrades
And, you know that you don't HAVE to upgrade your stereo to get subs in the back, right? I have 2 10in subs and I'm still using the stock base model HU. I plan to replace it eventually, but it was cheaper and quicker to get sound into my box this way. If anyone needs a write up on how to do this let me know.

RE: Stereo Upgrades
Sure. I could do it saturday. Only thing that we need on a DIY is how to install the pre-amp(female RCAs) out, right? O that and hooking up the remote wire. I'd be happy to do it. Tell me what you want to know and I'll help u as much as I can.

RE: Stereo Upgrades
Doing a DIY on making your stock radio amp ready would be a good idea. Go ahead and include everything needed to make an amp plug and play, if you know what I mean.
