Strup Exhaust
Got an E-mail from Charlie @ Strup the other day that they should be launching a header and axel-back pipe for the 08 xB in January. Sounds like closer to the middle of January for the launch. Keep your eyes open.

RE: Strup Exhaust
Cool.
I wish TRD would make a header for us. I'd like to keep all my parts from the same company.
Q: How many Gen 1 owners does it take to screw in a light bulb?

RE: Strup Exhaust
Toyota doesn't makes most of it's TRD parts.
Take the CAI for example, it's made by AEM.

RE: Strup Exhaust
I didn't know the 2Gen CAI was made by AEM. I know the 1Gen was.
Hmm. At any rate, I'm not getting a header until TRD makes one

RE: Strup Exhaust
Will headers for the xB2 cause the CEL to light up?

RE: Strup Exhaust
It shouldn't. Most are made to be a direct replacement and carb legal.

RE: Strup Exhaust
Not a bad deal for $350. Partshippers is saying that this dynos out at 8-10HP gains:

I wonder if it's much louder. My old xB had a DC sports header, and that thing was obnoxiously loud with the aftermarket exhaust.

RE: Strup Exhaust
About time, Damnit.
Like I said before, slap a TRD logo on there and I'm in. That way, I'll be 100% sure it won't void the 100,000 mile warranty I spent $1,300 on.

RE: Strup Exhaust
um ... correct me if im wrong.
just because it said TRD deosnt mean that it will not void your warranty.
and they cant void your warranty just because you modded something, lowering the car with void the warranty on suspention stuff and maybe your half shafts, but not the engine.
the eception to this is if you have the dealer install it.

RE: Strup Exhaust
This whole warranty thing comes up a lot and I know some of you are unaware of the Magnuson-Moss Act of 1975. This is just an excerpt from it, but basically it states that the manufacturer cannot tell you what kind of parts you can use on your car. If there is a warranty issue the burden of proof is on the manufacturer to prove that the parts you installed caused the said issue. I'll take this up against any dealer any day.
And what do you do when one Toyota dealer tells you that the TRD supercharger that another Toyota dealer installed voided you're warranty? TRD means nothing, But if you'd rather shell out the extra $$$ for something because it has a sticker on it then knock yourself out.
Under the Magnuson-Moss Warranty Improvement Act, a vehicle manufacturer may not make its vehicle warranty conditional on the use of any brand of part unless the manufacturer provides the part free of charge or the Federal Trade Commission (FTC) has specifically published that only the vehicle manufacturer’s product may be used. To challenge a false claim, ask the person to put it in writing, or request the vehicle manufacturer’s part free of charge. If you are charged for the part, or they refuse to give you a written statement, there may be a violation of Federal law.
This is the actual language of the act:
No warrantor of a consumer product may condition his written or implied warranty of such product on the consumer’s using, in connection with such product, any article or service (other than article or service provided without charge under the terms of the warranty) which is identified by brand, trade, or corporate name; except that the prohibition of this sub-section may be waived by the Commission if:
the warrantor satisfies the Commission that the warranted product will function properly only if the article or service so identified is used in connection with the warranted product, and
the Commission finds that such a waiver is in the public interest.
The district courts of the United States shall have jurisdiction of any action brought by the Attorney General (in his capacity as such), or by the Commission by any of its attorneys designated by it for such purpose, to restrain (A) any warrantor from making a deceptive warranty with respect to a consumer product, or (B) any person from failing to comply with any requirement imposed on such person or pursuant to this chapter or from violating any prohibition contained in this chapter.
