RE: Subaru Dex
IMO it would be stupid to release this in the states with a subaru name. aside from minor subtleties this is in essence an xB2. if they release it here with a Sub' badging they would almost certainly cost 5-10k more than an xB2. im thinking it would flop here. if people like the looks of this they could save that money by buying a scion. only a few people who are either Dumb, or only buy Subaru would buy this...
just my .02, i know nothing...

RE: Subaru Dex
The reason why I think it would be a good idea to bring this one as a Subie here in the states is that Subaru does not have a entry level car that cost below $20k. This car does not have any Subaru engineering except the minor styling changes (badges). I know that Subaru wants to grow its line-up in the states and Toyota will make more $$$...

RE: Subaru Dex
i could see that sure, but again they are so similar i feel that the xB2 owners would feel slighted. even though the xb2 isnt the "lil box car" that it used to be it is still distinctive and i think a lot of people buy it because of being such. if sub' releases this car in the states it will muddle the line of distinction.

RE: Subaru Dex
The Toyota Rumion/Scion xB2 and this car do not look anything alike! I can tell you that the average "Joe Car Buyer" will not even know that this Subie is a Toyota/Diahatsu in Japan. I can not see how anyone would be angry if this one makes it here! Let me state that this car making it here is a huge stretch and only a dream on my part...

RE: Subaru Dex
But this one is way smaller in size than the xB2. It is closer in size to the first gen xB...

RE: Subaru Dex
I don't see Subaru bringing the Dex here, honestly. It's a nice idea for the Gen 1 guys looking for a new car, but I don't think it'll pan out.
Q: How many Gen 1 owners does it take to screw in a light bulb?
A: SHUT UP I HATE THESE NEW LIGHT BULBS I'M KEEPING MY OLD ONES FOREVER

RE: Subaru Dex
It's a touch smaller overall than the xB Classic, and nothing at all like the Camry Rumion station wagon/xB2.
It is the DIRECT replacement for the xB Classic instead of the longer, lower, wider, more powerful, 6oo pounds heavier "replacement" we got.
I'd rather see it come in under the Toyota or Scion nameplate (especially Scion), but I doubt we'll see it at all since it wasn't brought in initially when it replaced the original bB as the next gen bB.
(All the versions except the Materia are right-hand drive at this point, but since the Materia version is LHD, 95% or the work of bringing it into the US is already done.)
Once again here is the comparo of the three vehicles...
