OS HANDLES
Has anyone colored their OS handles? if so did you paint over them or fabric over them! If painted, what kind did you use? I want to change mine black to match the roof but am def. concerned about paint chipping off from usage!

RE: OS HANDLES
ive concidered the same thing with the same concerns.
what im going to do is just build a small box to run the langth of the headliner and remover the grab handles. then cover the box with fabric "To test a mans character, give him power" Abraham Lincoln http://www.ez-bakedcustomz.com/ blaming a shooting on a gun is like me blaming my spelling errors on my keyboard. 138th member |

RE: OS HANDLES
Thanks, I'll try some plastic paint and maybe a couple clear coats! Worse comes to worse I'll get a new gray set!

RE: OS HANDLES
I will be honest. I used the Valspar paint from Lowe's and it does chip. I used the one for plastic and it still chips. I tried to put a light coat of primer to help, and the primer was sticky. Never dried. So i just painted them flat back and I don't touch them. Nobody uses them so i'm good. lol

RE: OS HANDLES
I figured I'd have a problem with that! I just took my handles off again and filed them down even more on the inside to hide the cathodes I put in, although I've been considering those flex lights. I might fabric the handles up but leave the back end exposed for the light, I'm still up in the air on what to do! They should just make black handles for this thing!

RE: OS HANDLES
Either go with the flex lights or the small LED modules
![]() I've installed both before and the LED modules are easier to fit and still throw out a lot of light. But in either case, you can get them to fit way inside the handle. Also, if you're going to paint them, make sure that you wipe the plastic down real good (or soak) them in paint prep (grease/wax remover). Use an adhesion promoter like Bulldog. I would also lay a coat of clear on them. 12th Member

RE: OS HANDLES
Thinking long and hard about it, instead of painting, I'm using my extra headliner fabric that i had to cover the handles. Here's 2 pics I just took mid process... I'm covering up the little bolt accessory now, once the glue dries I'll finish tidying it up, cleaning the cathodes under neither and post pics of the finished product.
That's the process of covering these with fabric, a bit tricky if you've never done something like a slip cover, but they will look nicer/smoother once they're installed. That fabric I got was f aux suede black with leather effect. $6 for the entire 3yd by 54" piece! I'll take a pic of the headliner once it's back in. I had to take it out to rewire the OS handles. And while I was doing that I decided to cover the handles too. No gray accessories will be in the car anymore! RE: OS HANDLES
In the pic's of the handles it looks snake skin material. Is that correct?

RE: OS HANDLES
I cleaned mine off with rubbing alcohol real well and used Rustoleum black paint for plastic. I hope they wont chip but they probably will.
