Are you lowered? What size wheel & tire are you running?

RE: tire rubs!

You rubing on the fender or the inside somewhere?

If your car is stock it might be best to take it to the dealer and have them check it out, they are professionals Wink

RE: tire rubs!

yeah, without knowing your specs its nearly impossible to troubleshoot the problem. if youre at stock ride height with stock or at least unaggressive wheels/tires i would definately take it to the dealer as well.

RE: tire rubs!

Wheel Width, Wheel offset plz.

and your tires are larger than the stock diameter (by 3.7%), and that is probably why you're rubbing.

Check this out: http://www.miata.net/garage/tirecalc.html based on the numbers, you should be running 215/40/17s (they're only 0.1% off)

RE: tire rubs!

Get yourself a BFH tool Grandpa!!! Make sure your tire/wheel is centered in the wheel well at normal ride height (level ground). You may have some alignment problems if they aren't. Rubbing on just the driver side could be related to the fact it is the driverside where the weight of the driver comes into play. Does this happen if you have a passenger? The correct diet could correct this rubbing (jus playin). I suggest if you are plaing with very close tolerances to just "beat" a little clearance into the equation. No harm done there. I had to do some clearancing for my 20's on mine.

Aloha,

RE: tire rubs!

mine rubbed on just the driver side, but it was rubbin just the part of plastic just befor it went to the metal.
i trimmed a small 1/2 inch of the plastic on both sides and all the rubbin went away.

you could try hitting that one spot with a hammer to flaten it out a bit
