RE: Turbo'd xB
A buddy of mine had his turbo'd but he recently sold it. From what he says it was a pain in the ass and nothing but trouble. Not sure why though I never really asked.

RE: Turbo'd xB
I just keep thinking how much better it would be if my box had a tad bit more hp.
Seriously I think we could be getting consistently over 32mpg if we had something a tad bit bigger, like a 2.2 or 2.4. I also own a corolla, and it gets 40mpg highway. only difference is aerodynamics. I don't think the xb is much heavier.
I guess that's off the point since a turbo probably wouldn't help lol

I have a friend who has an xa and his has a supercharger, i'm not sure if the turbo is the same as the super charger. However, his just had some problems and he had to rebuild his entire engine. I think our ittle engines are too small for something that brings in more power.

RE: Turbo'd xB
My only problem with the whole supercharger/turbo thing is the Dollar/Hp ratio. $3000 for 30-40 horses is not worth it to me. I look at it like I can still get all the speeding tickets I want with the engine I have.

RE: Turbo'd xB
Hey thats me! Here is the link to my album if you guys want to take a look.
http://s68.photobucket.com/albums/i10/bb.../xB/Turbo/
As for reliability and MPG I can't say just yet because I have only been boosted for 2 weeks now, but I have filled up once (with Premium at $3.399 a gallon) at 308 miles with 10.8 gallons, so about 28.5 mpg on the first tank. The only thing I have broken so far is the stock clutch. My numbers are about 131 whp and 159 ft/lbs with a mild tune at 10.5 psi. A dyno sheet is in my album. And Peej, as for the $3000, it IS worth it. This had made my xB even more fun to drive than it was before!

RE: Turbo'd xB
Wow that's not as bad as I thought for mpg. Maybe this is something that I would consider then. I was thinkin of finding someone who thought that they could make a corolla engine work haha. I think it would be worth the money. I love the xb, but havin a little bit of guts would make it all the better like bacamoxb said!
Is that about how much it cost you bacamoxb? $3000?"

30 ponies in our car is significant.
30 hp's for our car = about 80 hp's for a heavier 1980's Chevy. (opinion)
Also, that TQ value is great.

RE: Turbo'd xB
i cant seem to justify paying $3000, switching to filling up with premium gas, which by the way is ALMOST at $4, paying all the maintenance costs because these cars are just not made for speed. All these consequences for a measly 30-40hp. Props to you for having a turbo setup though.
