Yeah, the biggest resource hog on my system (more so than even Photoshop or my movie editing stuff) is my Anti-Virus stuff, especially ClamAV. ClamAV is damned good at what it does, but while it's digging around in the system's guts, don't expect to get anything else done. (On my laptop it runs both 2.2GHz processors at about 96%, and takes over about 2GB of RAM. That, my friends, is a heavy load.)

there is some very malisious software out there right now i spent the better part of 5 hrs today working on a customers computer trying to athunticate my paid version of spyhunter on 3 computers on 2 of them it worked just fine 1 was being a pain come to find out a malisious trojan on there computer had the enigmasoftware.com site on the blocked sites list removed all sites off blocked list and still nothing.gonna tryusing programs with a little more brut force. DOUCHE try running http://www.malwarebytes.com program is called malwarebytes you might have malware thats keeping u from installing programs

crap man, took your advice again, and still..... Nothing. when the DL box comes up i click Run, it appears to DL the whole way and then when its done, the box dissapears and nothing further happens.

^ Instead of clicking run, click save as. Then download the program in a folder instead of it being downloaded in the temp folder.

Iron, don't goto Avast, I just uninstalled it and went with AVG, and it found 17 viruses on my comp. My latest tests with Avast prove that it isn't as good as AVG.

And the "bad" site I went to, was a fake address that someone posted on a forum. Bastard

ran malwarebytes... found a few things jacked up including a trogan. ran glaryutilities right after and found 872 registry errors. wow!
