What a hydro-locked engine looks like

This is not my xb, but was sitting at the dealership, I took some pics. granted this may not be a how to or DIY, but it looks cool none the less.

Here is what happens when you start your xb in a ditch full of water, I talked to the mechanics that worked on it they stated that they pored water out of the intake and throttle body.

So here is or DIY to not start the engine in a ditch full of muddy water!

RE: something You have always wondered about??

Thats what's know as hydro-lock. People with CAI and have driven through high water have found out what that experience is all about.
What a mess. The guy will be lucky if they don't have to pull the engine to fully clean it out.

I know someone who hydrolocked the engine with a short ram. They were running with the fog light out in the rain.

I roll the same way and never had any issues! But again it does not rain much at all here in Arizona...

Hey, it's easier to point the finger than admitting it...

I actually have my fog lamp cover ported and toying around with the idea of applying a fine mesh that will allow air in but not water or a filter sock that will work the same...
